Worldwide, air travel will have produced more than 600 million tones of carbon
dioxide by the end of this year. This activity is unsustainable, and we can’t all
carry on flying at will, justifying to ourselves that ‘everyone else is doing it, so
it won’t make any difference if I
cut-back or not’.
Just because a flight is cheap, do you really need to hop on a plane for a
weekend break, regardless of the environmental damage it will cause? How
about staying closer to home or making the journey by rail instead?
Try to fly only when there is no practical alternative, then offset your emissions.
