On average, half of all heat lost in homes escapes through the loft space and
walls. You’ve probably got some insulation already, but is there enough? –
probably not! Standard insulation must be at least 27cm (10”) thick to be
effective, where loft floor boarding doesn’t allow this thickness in the space
beneath, a thinner multi-foil product can be used to achieve the same level of
insulation. On average, you could save £200 per year by insulating your loft to
these standards.
So before you get carried away with plans to install your own mini wind-turbine,
do the maths and check the loft first.
